Commercial DL Prep (79-90-87)
This competency-based course is designed to prepare students to obtain the California Driver’s License Class A as a truck driver. This course is Theory & Simulator-based instruction (no behind the wheel component). It provides students with the knowledge and skills needed for employment as a truck driver. Instruction includes introduction, safety, commercial driver’s license introduction, transporting cargo safely, air brakes, combination vehicles, doubles and triples, hazardous materials, road skills, employability skills. The competencies in this course are aligned with the DMV and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. (120 hrs)
Prerequisites: Requires employment-level competency in reading, written and oral communications, and math. Posses a valid Class C driver license.
